You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Nysnø har lagt seg over det eldre snødekket som er gjennomfuktet opp til minst 500 moh. Det generelle bildet fra Lofoten er at det kun er skiføre i terrengformasjoner som har samlet snø igjennom vinteren. I fjellene på Hinnøya og i deler av Vesterålen er det mer snø, men mildvær og regn har fuktet opp snøen opp til minst 800-900 moh.

8-12 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Moderate gale from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -9 °C to -1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Saturday 11. February 2023

3-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 300 m a.s.l during the evening. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during the evening. -8 °C to -1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Gunstige temperaturer gjør at eldre fokksnøflak stabiliserer seg relativt raskt. I høyden der det finnes tørr nysnø vil vinden kunne legge opp middels store fokksnøflak som kan være lette å løse ut.
